City of Austin posts survey for Oakland Avenue redevelopment | News [Video]

AUSTIN, Minn.-The city of Austin is seeking input from the community to develop the Oakland Ave corridor into a safer and more welcoming environment for commuters and businesses.

The city posted a link to a survey on its Facebook page this week showing a list of potential improvements it had brainstormed with community back in July.

The list organizes potential improvements under 4 categories including options that encourage more development in the area, streamline traffic for cars, bikes and pedestrians, involve local high schoolers in the community and create a coherent identity for the space. 

Businesses in the area like Apold Music say a big concern for future development was streamlining traffic signs so that there could be less confusion when the avenue transitions into a one way street. 

“”Every day there are cares going down the wrong way. And we know they’re wrong and the signs should make that clear,” Chad Apold, the owner said.
