HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Some say the Dr. Richard Showers Sr. Recreation Center is more than just a building that serves as a main hub for events and activities, and they want to see upgrades to the historic facility to reflect their community’s desires.

From hopes of an exercise room to upgrades to the facility’s pool, people like Judy Edmond say they hope the revitalization project will create a better center for years to come.
“I want to make sure that this place is still viable and can support our community because we’re steady growing, and I just want to see more things offered,” Edmond said.
