JOPLIN, Mo. — Ewert Park in Joplin could soon be getting a new feature.

City council approved the next step in adding a splash pad to the park, which would replace the current pool at the facility.

The city of Joplin will enter into a contract with “Branco Enterprises” for the firm to be the “Construction Manager at Risk,” or CMAR, for the project.

That means Branco will oversee the project from start to finish.

Funding for the $5.3 million project comes from the Parks and Storm Water quarter-cent sales tax.

According to the CMAR proposal form, construction is expected to last 10 months once it begins.
