INDIANAPOLIS — The Circle City Industrial Complex on Indy’s near east side has been renamed the Factory Arts District “effective immediately,” owner Teagen Development announced Tuesday.
The property used to be home to the Schwitzer manufacturing facility. It was named the Circle City Industrial Complex when Schwitzer left the property in the 1990s. Teagen Development then bought the property in 2015.
“As the building changed, we realized that the name ‘Circle City Industrial Complex’ just didn’t describe what was happening inside these walls,” said Rachel Ferguson, Teagen Development vice president. “Spaces that were once filled with machines and equipment, that were used to test engines and fabricate parts, are now filled with craft brewers and distillers, art studios, galleries, and small businesses. We wanted a name that would better reflect the grassroots community happening here.”
