Churchgoers and Alaska Black Caucus members cast their votes in Souls to the Polls effort [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – In a joint effort between Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and the Alaska Black Caucus, voters caravanned to cast early votes Saturday.

The groups united in what they called “Souls to the Polls,” their event to gather members of both groups and surrounding community members at the church and transport them to the elections office to cast an early vote.

At the elections office off Gambell Street, the line went around the building, some voters at the front said they waited around an hour to get to the front door. Pastor Dr. Undra Parker, Senior Pastor with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, waited near the front doors while members of his congregation went into the building for early voting.

Parker already cast his vote earlier in the week, but said he participates in the event yearly.
