Church of God in Christ Convention expected to generate millions to STL [Video]

ST. LOUIS – The streets of downtown St. Louis will be packed this week as the Church of God in Christ’s International “AIM” Convention returns.

“Of course, there were a number of cities that submitted proposals, but St. Louis stood out for us,” Bishop Linwood Dillard, chairman, said.

COGIC’s summer convention is making its return after five years. Dillard says it’s the church’s job to roll up their sleeves and work in their communities. With people expected to attend from all over the world, he also emphasizes the economic impact the event could have for St. Louis.

“We always hit between $30 to $45 million in terms of economic impact,” he said.

COGIC’s Dean of AIM Education, Evangelist Vanya Jackson, says everyone has the chance to get involved.

“People can expect to come to worship opportunities, but also learning opportunities; there will be many classes, many trainings,” she said.
