Christmas tree lighting brings hope to Chimney Rock [Video]

CHIMNEY ROCK, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – In a normal December, Chimney Rock Village is covered with Christmas lights and busy hosting holiday events. This year Christmas looks a lot different, but a one-day event brought some magic to the community decimated by Hurricane Helene.

Thousands came by bus to the Lake Lure Inn on Saturday to support Chimney Rock businesses, enjoy festive music and food, and take pictures with Santa.

Natives Rest Candles was one of the locally-owned shops selling artisan goods and handing out treat bags to children. Shop owner Heidi Ladlee said since weathering the storm, the town is even closer than before.

Ladlee’s shop is still standing after Helene and most of their merchandise was spared.
