Chittenden Solid Waste District wins award for recycling eclipse glasses [Video]

<YOU’RE WATCHING NBC5 NEWS> IF YOU THOUGHT WE WERE DONE TALKING ABOUT THE SOLAR ECLIPSE… YOU WERE WRONG. AN ORGANIZATION IN OUR REGION IS RECEIVING AN AWARD FOR THEIR ROLE IN KEEPING ECLIPSE GLASSES OUT OF LANDFILLS! THE CHITTENDEN SOLID WASTE DISTRICT COLLECTED MORE THAN 115- THOUSAND SOLAR ECLIPSE GLASSES FOLLOWING THE HISTORIC EVENT ON APRIL 8TH. BECAUSE OF THIS ACHIEVEMENT, THE NORTHEAST RECYCLING COUNCIL IS AWARDING THE DISTRICT AS THE RECIPIENT OF THIS YEAR’S “Environmental Leadership Award” FOR BEING AN OUTSTANDING PROGRAM. INSTEAD OF JUST BEING THROWN OUT, THOSE GLASSES WERE DONATED TO “ASTRONOMERS WITHOUT BORDERS”. IT’S AN ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES THE GLASSES TO COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE WORLD THAT DO NOT HAVE A WAY TO VIEW LUNAR AND SOLAR ECLIPSES SAFELY.
