Chippewa Falls will be losing the Leinenkugels Brewery and dozens of jobs [Video]

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Chippewa Falls is set to lose a community staple that’s been around for 157 years. According to a letter from Molson Coors, the company that owns the Leinenkugel’s Brewery, to the Department of Workforce Development, 56 people will be out of a job when the brewery shuts down operations in January.

Dick Leinenkugel said he is saddened by the company’s decision to close the brewery. The Chippewa Falls Area Chamber of Commerce released a statement saying it’s saddened for the Chippewa Valley. In a joint statement, the Teamsters Local 200 and 662 say closing a, “point of pride for the Chippewa Valley as tragic.”

Mayor Greg Hoffman says the future of the building is uncertain, “I don’t know if they’re going to market it. I don’t know if they’re going to hold on to it. I really don’t know. They’re holding on to the Lodge. …
