Child may have been shot with BB at Cape Cod playground, police say [Video]

Police are investigating whether a 7-year-old was shot in the leg with a BB Thursday night at a playground on the Cape.

Barnstable Police say it’s possible the child was “struck by a BB from a BB gun,” but are otherwise referring to it as an “unknown projectile” while they investigate, according to a press release issued Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to a playground in the area of Mary Dunn Road and Independence Drive in Barnstable Thursday at about 7:50 p.m. for a report that a child was hit in the leg with something, Barnstable Police said.

The child was treated at Cape Cod Hospital for what police say appeared to be an entry and exit wound near the shin. The child was released and expected to be OK, police said.
