Child killed in hit-skip; suspect faces judge [Video]

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A man charged in a hit-and-run accident that killed a child faced a judge this week.

Donald Mynatt III, 32, faces multiple charges in the death of 7-year-old Amir Prewitt.

Authorities say Mynatt was driving an SUV on Lakeshore Boulevard outside the Lakeshore Beach Apartments on August 16.

According to a press release, Mynatt hit Prewitt, who was riding his skateboard. Prewitt was reportedly dragged beneath the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators say Mynatt sped away. He was arrested more than two weeks later in a storage unit.

According to court records, Mynatt posted a personal bond in the case on Monday.

He faces multiple charges, including negligent homicide, tampering with evidence and stopping after an accident.

His pretrial conference is set for later this month.
