CHICO, Calif. – As concerns about Chico’s growth continue to rise, the City Council’s Ad Hoc Committee on Growth and Community Development is meeting today to explore the way forward.
The meeting, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, will address issues related to the city’s expansion and its impact on the surrounding environment.
A major point of discussion will be the potential effect of new developments on the edges of town and their impact on wildfire risk for the community. With Chico’s proximity to wildfire-prone areas, city officials are keen to evaluate whether expanding into these areas could increase or decrease the city’s fire danger.
