(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Gov. JB Pritzker hosted a “Thank You Illinois Convention Kickoff Luncheon” for community leaders, elected officials, volunteers, and allies for their role in hosting the Democratic National Convention.
“It is going to be one of the greatest experiences and the best convention ever in the history of the Democratic Party,” Pritzker said at the event.
While attending the luncheon on Chicago’s South Side, Alderman Pat Dowell says as the city prepares for thousands of visitors, she’s fielding concerns from residents in her ward.
“It’s important that the City of Chicago not be inconvenienced as we celebrate and do the work to vote in Kamala Harris as our first president.”
The alderman says she’s in constant communication with her constituents and is working with the city and the Secret Service to make sure Chicago residents are able to enjoy the historic week.
