Chautauqua County honors retirement of Office for Aging Services director [Video]

Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. commended Dr. Mary Ann Spanos’ retirement during Wednesday night’s legislature meeting.

MAYVILLE, N.Y. — Dr. Mary Ann Spanos began her career in 1986 as a physical therapist specializing in geriatric rehabilitation. Since taking the lead for the Office for Aging Services, she has created initiatives focused on helping seniors remain in their homes and stay connected to their communities. 

During Wednesday night’s legislature meeting, Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. presented a letter of commendation for Spanos on her retirement after more than two decades of service.

Wendel also acknowledged her national leadership as President of US Aging, advocating for seniors’ needs on a broader scale. In 2022, Spanos was named a “Women of Distinction” by New York Senate.
