Charter school for kids with ASD opens in Monroe [Video]

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – After 3 years, a charter school for children with Autism is officially opening in Monroe.

The Academy of Collaboration Education hosted a ribbon cutting and open house, the evening of July 27.

“As parents we’d do anything for our kids, we would die for them and as a momma I started a school for mine. And that chokes me up because it means so much that I’m able to do that for him.” says co-founder Maddie Canon.

The Academy of Collaboration Education, also known as A.C.E is named after co-founder Maddie Canon’s son, who has Autism.

A.C.E will have free tuition and hold grades K through 5 with two classrooms per grade.
