CFCC unveils name of new Health and Human Services Center [Video]

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Cape Fear Community College on July 25 unveiled its newly-named Dan and Shelia Saklad Health and Human Services Center in downtown Wilmington.

Dan Salkad donated to the college in honor of his wife, who was a nurse before she passed away in 2020.

Logan Thompson, executive director of the CFCC Foundation, reflected on the importance of the name.

“It means so much because it comes directly from Dan’s heart. And when Dan and I first talked about this I teared up because I told him ‘there’s no one else whos name needs to be on this building but yours’ because he is such a supporter of nursing. Because his wife trained as a nurse; his wife passed away in 2020 so this is not just exciting because it’s a large gift, but it’s exciting because it means so much to him and to his family,” Thompson …
