Ceremony marks closing of ‘Before and After Again’ memorial art exhibit [Video]

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It was an evening of emotions at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum.

Friday night the museum held a closing ceremony for the 5/14 memorial art exhibit, “Before and After Again,” made in honor of the victims and survivors of the Tops mass shooting.

The Director of Community Engagement at the AKG, Keiah Shauku, talked about the exhibit with 2 On Your Side.

“When we think about grief and memory and imagination, this is an invitation to explore all the aspects. So it’s not just simply heaviness,” Shauku said. “Memories can spark all sorts of things, joy, and delight, and so it’s the art of remembering that can connect us with a loved one that we may have lost.
