NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The company that built the ‘archer’ barriers New Orleans is using to secure Bourbon street is in New Orleans to train the city on how to use them.
Fox 8 found Meridian Rapid Defense Group CEO Peter Whitford walking Bourbon Street Thursday (1/9) morning assessing the archers.
New Orleans bought 45 of his company’s archers in 2017 for almost $250,000.
“The condition of the archer barrier from an appearance standpoint is exceptionally poor. It’s not something that I think the city would be proud of,” Whitford said.
Fox 8 saw archers with rust, missing paint, with graffiti and at least one with wheel damage.
