The fire department says most calls are medical emergency calls, but structure fire calls are also on the rise.
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department says it responded to a record number of calls in 2024. The fire department says the number reflects a growing city and now they’re looking for support from the community to grow along with it.
“As the city continues to grow, our emergency services are going to respond to more incidents,” said Deputy Fire Marshal Craig Etherton.
According to the fire department’s report, it responded to 10,591 calls in 2024, which is a 5.7% increase from 2023 and a 35% increase over the last 10 years. 74% of those calls were EMS calls related to medical emergencies, but structure fires were also on the rise.
