Caswell County man convicted of 1st-degree murder [Video]

RUFFIN, N.C. — A 20-year-old man has been convicted of first-degree murder and has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole related to a February 2022 incident in Ruffin, according to the North Carolina District Attorney’s Office.

Tyler David Crank, 20, was found guilty by a jury of his peers for the first-degree murder of his father, Jimmie “Joey” Joseph Crank Jr., who was found unresponsive by Caswell County Sheriff’s Office deputies on February 23, 2022.

According to a press release, Joey was found with a stab wound to his upper left chest and died at the scene despite attempts to revive him by emergency personnel. Tyler Crank, who was 17 at the time, eventually admitted to detectives that he had stabbed his father with a knife.
