BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — CAPK is seeing a double in the amount of community engagement and officials are asking for donations.

Kelly Lowery with CAPK joined 17 News to talk about food insecurity in Kern County.

Lowery said more people are having to access the food bank possibly because of the cost of living.

Due to the engagement, CAPK is asking for the community’s participation in food and monetary donations. One event community members can participate in is the Feed the Need drive at the Kern County Fair.

The drive is set for Sept. 24 and if you donate six cans of food your admission to the fair is free.

If you or someone you know needs assistance call 2-1-1 to be connected to the distribution site in your area.
