Cantrell signs emergency sanitation contract for French Quarter, Downtown Development District [Video]

The emergency bidding process was initiated after the mayor’s administration failed to secure City Council approval for a long-term contract with Henry Consulting.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell signed an emergency sanitation contract with IV Waste, and on Sunday issued a statement calling the move “a crucial step in safeguarding the well-being of our residents during this challenging time.”

Earlier this month, IV Waste won a one-year emergency garbage collection contract for the French Quarter and Downtown Development District as a legal battle over the bidding process was set to begin.

The emergency bidding process was initiated after Mayor Cantrell’s administration failed to secure City Council approval for a long-term contract with Henry Consulting. The proposed eight-year, $73 million agreement with Henry Consulting was the highest-scoring submission in a professional services solicitation to the city.
