CLEVELAND — A young person from Canton was injured after being hit by an SUV while riding a skateboard in Stark County on New Year’s Eve, troopers said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press release that the crash happened at around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 30 in Osnaburg Township near milepost 22.
The Canton youth was riding a skateboard in the eastbound lane of U.S. 30 when they were struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 39-year-old Louisville woman.
The juvenile was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured, troopers said.
According to the highway patrol, alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been involved in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
