Campaign signs stolen by “kids out goofing around”, says RCPD | News [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. – People in Rapid City have been reporting on social media that campaign signs have been stolen from their yards. With tensions high in this political year, people are wondering if these were targeted attacks.

However, the Rapid City Police Department wants to reassure the public that these are likely pranks played by local teens.

“It’s a trend,” said Chief of Police Don Hedrick. “We see it every year. Sometimes it’s some kids out goofing around. Sometimes it’s a more targeted thing.

“I will tell you, this year, we already have caught some kids, and it appears they were just kind of goofing around. I can tell you that the parents were very unhappy when we contacted them.”
