While frigid temperatures might send most people indoors, others are braving the cold at Camden’s 22nd annual Winterfest hosted by the town’s public library.
CAMDEN, Maine — From a polar plunge into freezing waters to ice sculpting and even a doggie fashion show, Winterfest is full of ways to celebrate the season.
“This is a town-supported event, so everybody comes together, all the local businesses,” Julia Sagaser, program director at Camden Public Library, said.
For many, the highlight of day is the polar plunge, where brave participants dive into Camden’s icy harbor.
Andrea Cordova, one of the first to take the plunge and the last to get out, said she’s been doing cold plunges to benefit her mental health.
“It reminds me to take something one step at a time and just breathe, and with that you can get through a lot of anything,” Cordova said.
