Calhoun County organization providing free animal microchipping [Video]

ALEXANDRIA, Ala. (WBRC) – In an effort to prevent roaming and lost pets in Calhoun County, the organization ‘Animal Advocates For Calhoun County’ is providing a free microchipping event.

The first Animal Advocates for Calhoun County (AACC) microchipping event will take place at the community center in Alexandria Saturday, Aug. 17.

This event is designed to help identify animals by injecting a microchip between the animal’s shoulder blades. Once injected, a special scanner will scan the area to locate the microchip which will identify who the animal belongs to.

Gail Daparma with AACC says a free service like this is necessary with the overcrowding of animal shelters in Calhoun County.
