CAL FIRE continues Gore Ranch prescribed burn project Monday and Tuesday | News [Video]

REDDING, Calif. – The Gore Ranch, which is McConnell Foundation property located west of Redding’s Westwood Village shopping center near Highway 273, is the location of a continuing CAL FIRE Vegetation Management Project (VMP).

On Monday, Nov. 4, and Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, the CAL FIRE Shasta Trinity Unit will have resources present at the project site 24 hours per day, including air resources (when needed).

The project is designed to reduce vegetation in a 350-acre area. The goal is to reduce non-native grasses and brush and to remove dead and downed trees. The purpose is to enhance grazing habitat for livestock and wildlife while improving conditions in the Clear Creek watershed.

Residents and visitors should expect to see emergency personnel, equipment, and air resources actively engaged in operations during the day and into the evening on Monday and Tuesday.
