REDDING, Calif. – If you notice smoke southwest of Redding over the next couple of weeks, don’t be alarmed. CAL FIRE crews have initiated the Williams Ranch Vegetation Management Project, which began today and will run through February 3, 2025.
Project Overview
CAL FIRE says the project, located near the community of Platina, will focus on reducing fire fuels across 800 acres of timber and brush. This effort is designed to mitigate the risk of wildfires by clearing excess vegetation, improving fire safety, and promoting healthier ecosystems in the area.
