EAGLE POINT, Ore. — The Butte Creek Mill made about 800 pounds of flour Sunday, with all profits going to Court Appointed Special Advocates of Jackson County (CASA).
The mill used to run as a consistent for-profit business, but since burning in a fire in 2015, post-rehabilitation it now runs as a nonprofit. It runs purely on volunteers, educating the community on Rogue Valley history.
Being restored due to community support is what pushes the mill to support local causes.
“That’s what our whole being is about now,” said previous mill owner Bob Russell. “Any money we raise going forward after expenses, we want to put back into the community for education, for good causes like CASA, whatever we can do.”
