Butte County press conference following Palermo School Shooting

OROVILLE, Calif. – Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea provided an update into the investigation of the school shooting at the Feather River Adventist School in Palermo Wednesday.

Honea says that the two boys who were wounded in the shooting, identified as 6-year-old Roman Mendez and 5-year-old Elias Wolford, remain in critical condition as of Thursday. Mendez was shot twice and suffered internal injuries, and Wolford was shot once in the abdomen and also sustained internal injuries in the shooting.

Honea says that he traveled with Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey to the trauma center of the hospital where the two boys are being treated in order to speak with the parents of both boys.

Doctors told Honea that both boys are in critical condition and Honea said that the two victims have a very long road ahead for recovery. Honea said that it is very likely that both boys will have a …
