Business Awards Banquet celebrates Aberdeen businesses [Video]

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce has held the thirtieth annual business awards banquet.

Nearly three hundred business and political leaders attended the event. The Chamber of Commerce sponsored the ABBY Awards, awarding community members for their excellent work.

Chamber CEO Gail Ochs explained why the ABBY Awards are so important.

“You know, our businesses are humble. They don’t take a lot of praise or recognition, so it’s just a great chance for us to recognize them, recognize all their efforts and really celebrate as a community,” Gail explained.

In total, nine categories of business received recognition during the evening’s program. The People’s Choice Award went to Avera Saint Luke’s.

The Avera CEO Dan Bjerknes commented on their second straight category win in light of the nearly fifteen hundred votes cast.
