Burlington teacher arrested, charged with assaulting students [Video]

Officers say the incidents happened within the past two weeks.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Update (Nov. 19): According to court records, Edwards’ bail was raised from $15,000 to $30,000. One of the arrest warrants accuses her of biting a student, and another accuses her of kicking a student in the leg.

Edwards taught special education students at Andrews. She has since been suspended by the school district.

A 26-year-old Burlington teacher was arrested Monday after the Burlington Police Department says she assaulted multiple students at Andrews Elementary School.

Officers received a report Friday that said Jessica Edwards, 26, had physically assaulted students on the school’s property. According to the police department, the assaults occurred over the past two weeks.

Edwards has been charged with four counts of assault on individuals with a disability, according to a press release. She was transported to Alamance County Detention Center, where she received a secured bond of $15,000.
