Burgers and Badges raises money for United Way of Lee County [Video]

The Burgers & Badges Grill Off raised over $8,700 on Saturday for the United Way of Lee County and the Opelika Fire Department took home the Best Tasting Burger and the Most Money Raised. 

Formerly known as “Summer in The Park” and “Burgers for Bubba,” the initiative raised as much money as they can to benefit UWLC. Last year’s event raised over $6,000.  

“The Burgers & Badges event was a huge success,” said Leigh Krehling, Opelika’s community relations officer. “I’d like to personally thank our sponsors for their support and love for our community, and a big thanks to our employees who volunteered their time and energy for the United Way of Lee County. We could not have done this without them.”

Weeks leading up to the event, OPD and OFD went back and forth with each other on a social media campaign, using memes about who’s going to win the Best Tasting Burger and Money …
