Buca di Beppo Files for Bankruptcy After Closing 13 Locations in July [Video]

After closing over a dozen locations, the Italian-American dining brand Buca di Beppo has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

According to a press release, the chain restaurant is hoping to reposition the brand for future success by restructuring its remaining 44 restaurants in 14 states. They are also in the process of opening one new location, according to the release.

The company’s president Rich Saultz said in a statement that the filing will be a “strategic step for a strong future.”

“While the restaurant industry has faced significant challenges, this move is the best next step for our brand,” he said.

Saultz also said that he’s “enthusiastic” to enter the restaurant’s next phase.

Some good news for customers in the meantime: Promotions and reservations will still be honored at the open locations, so it will be business as usual for anyone craving their meatballs.
