They say Misty Romoe had brought tobacco, synthetic marijuana and contraband cellphones into the Bibb County jail
MACON, Ga. — An ex-guard at the Bibb County jail is now behind bars herself after being accused of smuggling contraband into the downtown Macon jail, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
They say Misty Nichole Romeo was fired on Tuesday after they discovered tobacco, synthetic marijuana and a cell phone in the Bibb County jail while reporting to work. Those are contraband in the jail, the press release said.
Then, on Friday just before noon, they say Romeo was arrested in Houston County on charges of violating her oath as a public officer, giving inmates contraband along with other charges.
According to the sheriff’s office, they say Romeo worked for the sheriff’s office part-time in the corrections division, but the sheriff’s office declined to provide any information …
