Bryans Tom Marty elected as American Legion State Commander [Video]

Bryan’s Tom Marty was elected as American Legion State Commander at the organization’s annual convention in Austin on Sunday. He previously served as Commander of American Legion Post 159 in Bryan.

Marty’s responsibilities include leading the American Legion’s membership recruitment and retention, public relations and promotional efforts across Texas.

Marty’s past roles include serving as vice-commander at the district level and a six-year role as training chair at the state level. He helped establish Texas Legion College, a mobile training program for Texas Legionnaires. Following a year as State Vice Commander in 2023, Marty traveled the state to campaign for election as State Commander.

From 1981-87, Marty was a security policeman in the United States Air Force before a 32-year career as a civilian policeman and investigator. He retired in 2013 and has since volunteered with a number of local organizations, including the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum, …
