Out of the 90,000-plus citizens who live in Bryan, the Census Bureau predicts about 22.9% live on the poverty line and home ownership is below the state average.
City staff talked about data and solutions Tuesday during their first workshop of the new year.
During Tuesday’s Bryan City Council meeting, city staff met to discuss a five-year plan for the Community Development Advisory Committee. This plan includes planning development needs, strategizing funds for grant programs and reporting existing conditions alongside reaching out for community feedback. In order to receive funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) each local government must submit a Consolidated Plan every five years.
