A cookout was hosted at Soldier’s Field, inviting visitors from all walks of life to discuss the struggles of people experiencing homelessness in the community. KMT News Three’s Saral Khare discussed the stigma of homelessness with a group of members.
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Table was formed in June 2024 and was cofounded with the Zumbro Valley Medical Society. At Soldiers Field they held their inaugural cookout to educate the community about who they are. Their mission is to provide solutions, projects and policies for homelessness.
They have 16 members who have experienced homelessness. A total of around 50 people came to Soldiers Field to enjoy hot dogs, Mac and Cheese and chips. Advisor Laurissa Bale says when one of the biggest challenges homeless people face is a language barrier.
