Bridgeport community supports families, students displaced by recent fire [Video]

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — One person died, and multiple families were displaced following a fire at a residential building in Bridgeport on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.  

As the community remembers 26-year-old Fabienne Laramee, who lost her life in the blaze on Connecticut Avenue, residents are stepping up to support the six Bridgeport students who were left without a home during the holidays.

A press release issued by Bridgeport Public Schools on Friday reported that the school district has partnered with the Rotary Club of Bridgeport to help the affected families and students recover.

Through the collaboration, Bridgeport Rotary donated gift cards to each of the six displaced students, which will allow them to purchase new uniforms and return to school with the supplies they need to succeed.
