Brian Merrell named new Bryan ISD deputy superintendent [Video]

During Monday’s Bryan ISD school board meeting, Brian Merrell was named the new deputy superintendent, a role that had remained vacant since March 2022.

Merrell has worked at Bryan ISD since 2018 as executive director of School Leadership with his prior roles including overseeing the secondary campuses, fine arts, career and technical education and multiple student, family and community engagement initiatives. During Monday’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved multiple role assignments, including Merrell.

As deputy superintendent, Merrell will oversee the district operations division and ensure effective execution of operational systems across the district. Similar to his previous role, he will supervise leaders in the career and technical education department and the fine arts department. Merrell also will lead long-term projects and goals, including master facilities planning and strategic planning.
