CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Breakaway Music Festival is “closely monitoring” the forecast amid Hurricane Helene’s predicted impact on the Charlotte area.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the festival, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, was expected to proceed as planned.
“We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for this weekend,” a spokesperson wrote on social media. “The safety of our fans, artists, and staff is our top priority, and we are working with local authorities and weather experts to stay informed.”
With a stronger hurricane forecast at landfall, it now appears Helene will remain at hurricane strength well into Georgia, meaning stronger winds for our area.
“We are prepared to adjust plans if necessary to ensure everyone’s well-being,” the spokesperson continued.
Widespread heavy rain and gusty winds are expected Thursday night, with peak impacts just in time for the Friday morning commute. Gradual improvement should commence Friday afternoon.
