The Brattleboro Ski Hill opened on New Year’s Eve however, it’s all-volunteer staff have faced challenges getting it ready. Board Vice President Todd Fahey said it has been difficult keeping snow on the ground. Currently, the hill is partially skiable. “Clearly, with the last two days of rain and 60 degrees, you can see there’s no snow anywhere except on our Hill, which is pretty sweet,” he said. The hill’s snow troubles are a result of warmer temperatures in the area as well as water supply issues. The water, used for snow making, comes from a nearby pond. “It is much lower than it should be. Again, as a result of the fall and summer drought,” Fahey said.
