Bowling Green community gathers to celebrate Arbor Day with activities, education and free trees [Video]

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – With Arbor Day arriving on April 26, Bowling Green Parks and Recreation and the Bowling Green Tree Board partnered with BikeWalkBG to bring their annual Arbor Day event to Kereiakes Park on Saturday.

There were other organizations planted there for the day, as well, such as Re-Tree BG and Warren County Stormwater Management. Everyone’s goal: to educate people about how and why they should care for trees and spend time outdoors.

“The Tree Board puts on this celebration every year to celebrate all the great things trees do for us,” said Jared Weaver, Bowling Green arborist and forester. “They clean our air, clean our water and provide us a beautiful place to live, a habitat for wildlife….we want to share that with the public and give people trees to take home and plant in their own landscape.”
