Boil advisory issued for communities around Marshalltown [Video]

The incident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has issued a boil advisory for areas of Marshall and Grundy County due to a pressure loss event on Wednesday.

The boil advisory is in effect for the following communities named in the release:

A more specified affected area can be found on this map provided by the Iowa Regional Utilities Association (IRUA).

These communities are north of Marshalltown, and the boil advisory has affected approximately 250 service connections. 

The incident causing the advisory happened at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday after a control system error occurred at a pumping station, causing it to lose communication with its system, which created the pressure loss event. 

The DNR said normal operating pressure was restored by 8:00 a.m. and the system was flushed.

Officials say there is no reason to believe the water quality in the area has been compromised, but encourages customers to boil water until further notice …
