BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – The Bloomington Public Library’s $25 million expansion project is now open to the public.
The public can now reserve the library’s innovation lab and two recording studios.
It’s equipped with 3-D printers, a laser engraver, Cricut-cutting machine, sewing machines and more.
The recording studios have audio tools and a green screen for personal or group use.
The studio can be reserved up to two hours per day and two weeks in advance. And lab reservations are station specific.
The library requires patrons to complete a certification class before use of the equipment in the lab.
Bloomington Public Library’s Marketing Manager Rhonda Massie said the main purpose is public access.
“It’s to get people who don’t have access to the equipment, to have access to the equipment so they can hands-on use the 3-D printer, and hands on use the Glow 4 Engraver. Or, even just sewing,” Massie said.
