Bloomington native returns home to lead tourism bureau [Video]

BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL (25News Now) – A woman familiar with Bloomington-Normal is about to become head of tourism in the area.

The Board of Directors for the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has selected Melissa Chrisman after a national search for the organization’s president and chief executive officer.

A release said Chrisman has more than 20 years of community relations and leadership experience. Most recently, Chrisman has been vice president of marketing and communications at Trinity Metro, the public transit system in Fort Worth, Texas. Before that, she was business development manager for Connect Transit, which is Bloomington-Normal’s public transit system.

“Melissa’s love for the community, leadership expertise, and professional experience all stood out in the selection process,” said the bureau’s board chair and leader of the search committee, Beth Whisman.
