Black Mountain Energy holds meeting to speak with public about new battery bank project | News [Video]

OOLOGAH, Okla. — Black Mountain Energy held a meeting to address the public about the new lithium battery bank project they hope to build in Oologah.

According to the company, the new battery bank will make the power grid more stable and help to prevent blackouts and brownouts, especially once the nearby Northeastern Coal Power Plant shuts down in 2026.

“We’re hoping to combat those inefficiencies and lower electricity prices over time and prevent brownouts and blackouts,” said Jackson Hughes, the manager of development on the project.

However, the community is concerned the new battery bank won’t actually benefit Oologah.

“Well, they don’t even have a guarantee that they’ll be with ADP and they could sign up with GRDA or VVC, so is it really going to help Oologah? That’s the question,” said Oologah resident Cody Burchs.
