BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Some West Birmingham residents are pushing back on a new family fun center at the Crossplex, a day after the Birmingham City Council voted to fund it.
The city council approved up to $15 million for the project, but leaders with the Central Park Neighborhood Association do not believe that is enough.
“I just don’t see us getting what we need as a neighborhood and community out of the amount of money that they voted,” said Susan Palmer, president of the neighborhood association
She said the group has been pushing for further development in the area since 2012.
They like the idea of new businesses, she said, they just want it done right.
This family fun center will include a skating rink, a bouncy house, exterior pickleball courts, e-sports center, bowling alley, and food court.
The Neighborhood Association first saw plans for the project last month, according to Palmer.
