Bill would increase penalties for all crimes committed by AI, especially child exploitation [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – One state lawmaker wants senators to take a closer look at the danger artificial intelligence poses, especially for children.

Senator John Albers sponsored Senate Bill 9 which he calls the Ensuring Accountability for Illegal AI Activities Act.

“This bill ensures that criminals aided by artificial intelligence are given more severe punishments than the sentences they received for their crimes. It will soon be discussed in the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, so I will continue to provide updates as the bill progresses through the Senate,” said Albers.

The bill would update existing laws to penalize the distribution of obscene material depicting a child to include AI-generated content. If convicted, criminals charged with a felony would face one to 15 years in prison.
