OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Thousands of bicyclists rode throughout the Metro on Sunday for a cause.
The 34th annual Cooperate Cycling Challenge was held on Aug. 18, with a start and finish line on Capitol Avenue.
“It’s such a nice, tight-knit community,” said Patrick Sechser, who rode with E & A Consulting Group. “People are supportive of each other on the road. We’re all just single people out there trying to ride our bike the best we can. But then, when we join together, we’re a nice little community.”
The bicyclists traveled from downtown Omaha, up to Fort Calhoun and back. Director Bob Mancuso said this year, participants had the choice of riding a 10 mile route, a 25 mile route, a 42 mile Gran Fondo and a 44 mile gravel ride. The mixed surface trail was a new addition this year.
“We support health and wellness and being active. We also support bicycling,” Mancuso said.
